"Our company deals with retail sale of car replacement parts. Among my duties as business manager, is working for sales optimization, i.e. trying to make every customer leave our office with a purchase.
Especially for this purpose once I wrote a program to search through the goods available. The aim of this program was to make the process of searching fast and effective. We had been using this program for a long time, however, its main drawback was that it was able to conduct search only though the items we have at our disposal. And of course, we can’t have it all in this world, in this particular case meaning we do not possess all the replacement parts for all the cars that exist.
A new problem arouse before me, namely: to search through the prices of our competitors and different stores that we cooperate with.
The prices are normally displayed in MS Excel files, although sometimes you can find *.doc or *.pdf files. Moreover, every supplier has his own way of presenting information and generally it is not systematized to ease the process of searching. After trying several search programs I chose SearchInform with SoftInform Company. Of all the programs that I had tested before (Sleuthhound, Archivarius,
AVSearch, Copernic Desktopsearch, Google Desktop, Phoenix, Price Scanner,
SearchWithin, Superior Search, Super Text Search, Yandex Desktop) only SearchInform was able to satisfy all the necessary criteria, namely: support of Russian interface, universal system of search (easily changed conditions), user-friendly interface, logically displayed results, understandable display of file content and a free trial version of the product. Also the program is quite easy to operate and percieve even for a non-specialist.
After three months of using SearchInform, the analysis of our sales has shown that the sales have increased by 20% than the same period of time last year..
The only inconvinience that we were facing was that we had to use two progrmas to search thrrough the items. But then when I went to the company’s site once again, I read about the product called SearchInform API, whivch according to the description, will be able to conduct seacrh directly from my own program. That means SDK API can be built in our program and we shall have a fully cunctional analogue of SearchInform.
The only thing we have left now is to apply all the above-mentioned to increase the efectiveness of our work and receive profit."
